R+P Post 13: Influences and inspiration from art, fashion and culture

Our main influences for this project come from British, mainly London culture and fashion trends as our artist is British, London based and we want this to come across clearly to the Target Audience. We therefore researched into London Fashion Week to get inspiration from the current London fashion trends.

Caitlin Price Collection

I specifically liked this collection as it combines the street wear style with more feminine colors and materials. This styling will really influence our choices when making decisions on costume for our music video.

Another thing that heavily influenced us during the planning process was the 2000's style and image especially seen on RnB artists such as Mariah Carey and Aaliyah.

As seen in these images we are inspired by the girly colors like pink and purple which are worn a lot by female artists in the 2000s. We are also like the trends from this era such as chokers, halter neck tops, double denim and bomber jackets and would like to include this in the styling in our video.

This style is currently becoming popular again in the UK amongst teenagers and so we want to use this styling to appeal to our British teenagers target audience. This will make our video more relatable and even aspirational to our target audience.

Another thing that inspired us about the 2000s era is the carefree, confident image that female artists gave across. Women were seen as powerful and attractive. Popular music at the time was generally positive and upbeat.
