R+P Post 12: Artists/ Bands that have influenced my ideas

We researched into artists to find our about their style, their performance and their interests in order to build an identity for our artist that would appeal to our target audience.

Jorja Smith:
Jorja Smith is an up and coming 19 year old British Pop artist. She writes all her own music and focuses on current issues such as oppressive policing which she talks about in her song 'Blue Lights'. We like how she sings about current issue and is a good role model for her fan base and we would like our artist to have these same values.

As well as her views and personality we were also heavily influenced by her image and clothes style. She has a very current and trendy look:

We want our artist to have a similar style with casual clothes that still look cool featuring a lot of brands.

AlunaGeorge:

As AlunaGeorge are the artist of our track and are also a boy and girl duo like our artist we researched a lot into them when trying to plan our artists look and identity. The main thing we were influence by was Alunas performance style in her videos and the way she dances which is similar to how we want out singer to come across in our music video.

Her performance style is very relaxed and her dancing looks good and suits the music but does not look over rehearsed or planned. This effortless performance style is something we want our lead singer to have in the performance in our music video.

Chase and Status
We took inspiration from Chase and Status for the male DJ half of our duo. Chase and Status are British Electronic music producers based in London. We want our male DJ to have a similar style to Chase and Status in terms of their clothes and image.
We also want our artist to have similar ideals and Chase and Status worked hard to be as successful as they are today and they did not come from particularly privileged backgrounds.
