R+P Post 10: Album Covers that have Inspired and Influenced my Ideas

After researching into many different types of album covers I have discovered that they all follow typical conventions, specifically for debut album covers (which is what we will be creating):

The overall role of an album cover is to convey the kind of music that is on the album, promote the artists image and attract the target audiences attention.

When researching album covers we knew we wanted our album cover to be colorful to reflect the image of our artists and so we looked at some colorful album covers and made notes in our project book:

Lily Allen, The Fear Album Cover:

This album influenced our ideas and we liked how it made the artist the main focus but did this in a more original way than just a simple photo of her. This gave us ideas to think about the positioning of our artist on the front cover. We also liked the use of color as a lot of color is included but in a simplistic way making the cover look bold yet not too busy. 

Kanye West, Graduation Album Cover:

We were very draw to this album cover due to the extremely bold color scheme focusing on pinks and purples and the futuristic imagery which subtly reflects the title of the album. We were inspired by the color scheme and plan to include a similar scheme in our cover. However the album does not feature a focal image of the artist which is something we will definitely include,
